Ubisoft plans to part ways with some employees at its studios in Germany

Ubisoft has decided not to limit itself to the possible closure of RedLynx and layoffs at Ubisoft Singapore. It has been revealed that the company also plans to significantly reduce the workforce in its German studios.

The Settlers: New Allies

A Ubisoft representative disclosed these plans in a comment to the publication Game File. He added that instead of forced layoffs, the company offered to launch a voluntary departure program at Ubisoft Dusseldorf, Ubisoft Berlin, and Ubisoft Mainz. The management promised compensation to employees who agreed to leave their positions.

Ubisoft did not disclose the scale of the upcoming layoffs, but an anonymous source shared this information with Game File. According to this source, the plan is to lay off approximately 100 people, with more than half of these layoffs expected at Ubisoft Dusseldorf.

Ubisoft Dusseldorf, formerly known as Blue Byte, is the largest of the three studios, currently employing over 400 staff members. Notably, it created the game series The Settlers and contributed to the development of Rainbow Six Siege and Rayman Legends Retold.

Ubisoft Mainz is the leading developer of games in the Anno franchise, while Ubisoft Berlin serves as a support studio, assisting other Ubisoft teams.
