Most members of Gravity Well, an independent game development company started by former Respawn Entertainment employees, have been laid off following the loss of financial support.

The studio's primary figures, Drew McCoy, Jon Shiring, and Mon Saetern, mentioned in a LinkedIn update that funding was withdrawn over the summer, and they are actively seeking a new financial backer. Due to this financial setback, they had to part ways with over 40 highly skilled team members.

The message conveyed that everyone involved was kept informed as circumstances developed and was aware of the potential need for layoffs if new funding wasn't secured.

The leadership acknowledged the dedication of their team and expressed regret over not being able to secure funding in time to prevent layoffs.

Going forward, a reduced team will strive to keep the studio operational amidst the challenging industry climate, with an acknowledgment that their path forward remains unpredictable.

The studio called on other businesses to consider employing those who have been laid off.
