According to posts by employees, Ninja Theory has started to implement staff layoffs
Employees at Ninja Theory are facing layoffs.
According to Chris Kerr, a news editor at Game Developer, notifications have appeared on LinkedIn from affected individuals.
On September 22, Xbox announced plans to potentially shut down Ninja Theory after unsuccessful attempts to sell the company. The firm mentioned that "two separate agreements for Ninja Theory fell through," though they continue to "explore other paths forward."
IGN highlights a post from gameplay programmer Katrin Mair, who was with the studio for four years and expressed sorrow over not finishing projects. She lamented, "it’s incredibly sad knowing that we won’t get to finish what we were working on. So much care, talent and effort went into it, and I really wish we’d had the chance to see what it could have become."
Other staff members affected include technical director Loong-Wei Ding and performance capture specialist Xoe Suvari, while technical sound designer Alessio Mellina, with 12 years of tenure, also faces potential redundancy.
The total number of employees impacted remains undetermined.
Ninja Theory was developing Senua, the third entry in the Hellblade series, announced by Xbox during their June showcase.
Previously in September, Xbox relocated the historic UK studio Rare and the Halo series to Activision. This move included substantial reductions at Halo Studios, following speculations of further layoffs.
