It seems that Build a Rocket Boy is preparing to shut down, as there have been new layoffs at the studio

Several employees of the studio Build a Rocket Boy, which developed the failed game MindsEye, posted on social media about another round of layoffs in their team.

It's unknown exactly how many people were affected. However, there are rumors on the internet that Build a Rocket Boy is now under the threat of imminent closure. This was initially hinted at by a laid-off HR specialist, and later, sources from Kotaku shared similar information.

Nevertheless, sources from IGN claim that the MindsEye developers' studio will not close, even if it loses all of its employees.

Build a Rocket Boy itself has not officially commented on the situation.

It should be noted that the environment at Build a Rocket Boy has long been considered unhealthy. Following last year's unsuccessful release of MindsEye, the studio has conducted mass layoffs multiple times, resulting in a reduction of its workforce by May 2026 to one-tenth of its peak size—shrinking from 800 to 80 people. This situation was exacerbated by claims from employees about a toxic culture within the studio and frequent crunch periods, followed by a lawsuit against management for secretly installing surveillance software on work computers.
