Initially, the layoffs were reported by Kotaku, citing its sources, but CD PROJEKT RED soon officially confirmed the changes. The company clarified that nine people were laid off: four from Boston and five from Warsaw. An additional nine employees were invited to interviews, after which they will be transferred to other projects.

"We have adjusted the number of the Project Sirius team in accordance with the needs of the project at this stage of its development," explained CD PROJEKT RED.

These are not the first layoffs among the Project Sirius developers. It is known that they also occurred at least in 2023.

According to CD PROJEKT RED’s financial documents, as of April 30, 2026, the game’s development involved 83 people. If the team composition remained unchanged until August, there should now be 65 specialists remaining.
