Original story, August 12, 2026: CD Projekt Red's Witcher multiplayer project, internally known as Project Sirius, is facing additional job cuts.

A report from Kotaku reveals that nine individuals were let go from the Project Sirius team, while another nine have been transitioned to other studio projects as part of a strategic shift in development focus.

At the time of reporting, CD Projekt Red had not issued a comment.

Initially announced in October 2022, Project Sirius is a Witcher spin-off featuring both cooperative and single-player modes, developed by The Molasses Flood. This Boston-based studio became a part of CD Projekt Red in 2021, and the project underwent reevaluation in 2023, coinciding with the termination of 29 positions. The Molasses Flood was fully integrated into CD Projekt Red by April 2025.

This development follows Supermassive Games' announcement of a third wave of layoffs today, which may affect up to 75 employees.
