Nearly a hundred employees will be leaving Supermassive Games
The studio behind Until Dawn, The Quarry, and the horror anthology The Dark Pictures announced upcoming layoffs. In total, Supermassive Games plans to cut up to 75 employees.

Currently, Supermassive Games is consulting with its employees. The outcome of these consultations will determine who will retain their jobs and who will not.
"We understand this will be an extremely difficult period for everyone. Supporting those affected by the layoffs will remain our priority throughout the process," Supermassive Games wrote on social media.
According to the studio, the layoffs are necessary to "ensure sustainable development" going forward. They did not specify what prompted this decision, but it is possible that their less successful launch of the latest game, Directive 8020, played a role. The game was released on May 12, 2026, and received a "mixed" rating on Steam.
It's worth noting that for Supermassive Games, 75 people represent a significant portion of their staff. According to their LinkedIn profile, the studio currently employs around 200 specialists. In reality, the number might be slightly higher or lower, but the scale is approximately understood.
