Supermassive Games has announced another round of workforce reductions, marking the third occurrence in as many years, which could affect up to 75 jobs.

According to a statement from the developer, this action is deemed essential to maintain the company's viability.

The company acknowledged the difficult nature of this transition and emphasized its dedication to supporting those affected.

Previously, in July, the company reduced its workforce by 36 and delayed its horror game, Directive 8020, from an initial October 2025 release to May 2026. At that time, the company cited the demanding and changing nature of the industry as a prime reason and needed to reorganize its teams accordingly.

Directive 8020 received a variety of reactions and reportedly sold around 447,000 copies across multiple platforms, including Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox.

In a prior instance of restructuring this February, Supermassive Games entered a consultation phase that resulted in approximately 90 employees losing their jobs.

The company reiterated that the industry is experiencing substantial difficulties and acknowledged that they are also affected.

It was stated that Supermassive Games will concentrate its resources on its primary strengths and forthcoming projects to safeguard the company’s longevity.
