LightSpeed Studios will conduct layoffs, affecting the team behind the cyberpunk action game Last Sentinel
Double Fine is not the only studio currently affected by layoffs. It has also been revealed that LightSpeed Studios, a subsidiary of Tencent, is preparing for staff reductions.

In total, LightSpeed Studios intends to part ways with 80 employees. According to the studio, the reason for the layoffs is the changes in the development pipeline of the game Last Sentinel. The upcoming cyberpunk action game is set to have its "creative and production directions" adjusted to better meet audience expectations.
However, some affected developers may still keep their jobs. In a statement to the media, representatives from LightSpeed Studios mentioned that they would try to find new positions for at least some of the dismissed staff within other projects at the studio.
LightSpeed Studios announced Last Sentinel in 2023 during The Game Awards. The studio stated that it would be a story-driven AAA game with an open world set in a futuristic Tokyo. The game's release date has not yet been disclosed.
The development of Last Sentinel is being handled by the American division of LightSpeed Studios, which has a team of 200 people. In addition, the studio has branches in China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, the United Kingdom, France, Canada, New Zealand, and the UAE. LightSpeed Studios is best known for PUBG Mobile.
