Mass layoffs are set to occur at PokerStars

The company Flutter Entertainment has announced upcoming layoffs in the team of the online poker platform PokerStars. These will occur as part of a restructuring effort.

According to the NEXT.io portal, the layoffs will affect PokerStars employees worldwide, including staff in Canada, the European Union, and the United Kingdom. The number of employees being laid off has not been disclosed.

A PokerStars representative told NEXT.io that the changes in staffing are aimed at increasing work efficiency and adapting the structure to the current needs of the business. He emphasized that the company will consider opportunities to reassign some employees to other positions, but it will not be possible to save everyone from layoffs.

The decision on the layoffs was made against the backdrop of financial issues faced by the poker platform. In its 2025 report, Flutter Entertainment reported an impairment loss of $725 million related to the PokerStars trademark.
