Media: Nacon to close Big Bad Wolf studio and lay off nearly all Kylotonn employees
The French publisher Nacon is continuing to "clean house" within its ranks.
Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss
The impending closure of Big Bad Wolf—the studio behind the recently released Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss—was reported on social media by journalist Origami Gauthier Andres. According to his information, Nacon has decided to dissolve the team to improve its financial standing.
It is anticipated that Big Bad Wolf will be shut down as part of the bankruptcy proceedings of another Nacon subsidiary, Cyanide Studio, of which the studio is a division.
Separately, the French STJV union shared information that Nacon has decided to conduct mass layoffs at Kylotonn—the studio behind Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown. They assert that the publisher's management will officially announce the layoffs at a meeting with employees on May 13. Additionally, STJV notes that the meeting was initially scheduled for a week earlier but was postponed to avoid disrupting the Nacon Connect presentation.
The exact number of people who will leave Kylotonn has not been specified by the union. Sources of Andres indicate that the studio's staff will be reduced by about 75% to just over 30 employees.
Neither Nacon, Big Bad Wolf, nor Kylotonn have commented on the rumors.
Previously, Nacon's financial troubles also affected the Spiders studio, which ceased to exist after 18 years of operation.
