Warner Bros Montréal has reportedly experienced a reduction in its workforce
Reports have emerged indicating that Warner Bros Montréal has undergone layoffs, though the scale remains unclear.
On LinkedIn, former workers disclosed that positions were eliminated last Friday (March 13) across several areas, such as narrative, design, and production.
GamesIndustry.biz has sought comments from WB Montréal.
WB Montréal, recognized for titles like Gotham Knights and Batman: Arkham Origins, also worked alongside Monolith Productions on the now-cancelled Wonder Woman project, which ceased operations last year.
In 2024, 99 positions were reported to be cut at the studio.
The latest cutbacks are part of the ongoing transaction involving Warner Bros. Discovery, where Netflix had initially planned a $82.7 billion acquisition in December, though Paramount Skydance outbid them recently.
Ted Sarandos, Netflix co-CEO, commented that the Paramount agreement might result in "considerable cost-cutting."
This impacts WB’s gaming division, which includes studios like WB Studios, Rocksteady, TT Games, Avalanche Software, NetherRealm Studios, Portkey Games, and mobile studios.
Recent financial disclosures from WB provided scant details about its gaming sector, mentioning its current focus on "rebuilding" its lineup.
The company's Studios segment, inclusive of gaming operations, saw a year-over-year decrease of 14%.
