Tripwire Interactive, known for the Killing Floor series, has laid off 23 employees.

According to a LinkedIn announcement from the studio based in Georgia, these layoffs were necessary to "align with business realities" and maintain focus on creative objectives as the dynamics of the gaming industry change.

The company expressed its commitment to advancing its current lineup of projects, which includes games they are developing themselves and others they are publishing.

Seher Basak, a former producer impacted by these layoffs, noted separately that the job cuts affected employees in quality assurance, art, engineering, and customer support.

Tripwire stated: "Deciding to proceed with these layoffs was incredibly challenging due to the impact on those affected and the greater team." They acknowledged the contributions of those who were let go, expressing gratitude for their work and pledging support to assist them in their transition.

The studio further emphasized its dedication to creating high-quality gaming experiences and its support for players, while thanking team members, partners, and the community for their patience during this period of change.

Founded by John Gibson and Alan Wilson in 2005, Tripwire has seen leadership changes, with Gibson resigning as CEO in 2021 following unpopular remarks about abortion. Wilson became interim CEO, and in 2024, Matthew LoPilato was appointed CEO.

In 2022, Embracer Group, through its subsidiary Saber Interactive, acquired Tripwire. Although Saber Interactive was sold for $247 million in 2024, Tripwire remains under Embracer, along with Zen Studios, 4A Games, Beamdog, Tuxedo Labs, Demiurge, Shiver, Aspyr, Snapshot, and 34 Big Things.
