The studio behind Highguard has been hit by a wave of layoffs

Layoffs occurred two and a half weeks after the game's release.

Initially, the mass layoffs at Wildlight Entertainment became known from a LinkedIn post by one of the former studio employees. Level designer Alex Graner stated that he lost his job along with the "majority" of his colleagues, but did not specify the exact number of people affected.

Later, Wildlight Entertainment itself confirmed the layoffs, announcing it on their official account on X. They also did not clarify the number of people impacted, but their words suggest that the studio's staff has significantly decreased.

According to Wildlight Entertainment, the "core group" of developers will continue working at the studio. They will keep developing Highguard, so there are no plans to shut down the shooter.

Remember, Highguard was released on January 26 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. The game debuted with a "mostly negative" rating on Steam, but it has improved to "mixed" as of today.
