Reports indicate that Warner Bros Games San Francisco has been affected by layoffs
Staff at Warner Bros. Games' San Francisco location have faced layoffs, affecting an unspecified number of employees.
According to information from Game Developer, individuals who recently lost their jobs have begun communicating their experiences on social platforms.
Last month, Tony Perkins, the director of design, mentioned that his role, along with his team's, would be dissolved at the year's end, attributing this to a game underperforming in the market.
GamesIndustry.biz has sought further details and a statement from Warner Bros. Games regarding these developments.
Additionally, Roland Herran, former art director, affirmed that the studio was affected by job cuts, noting his long-term association of over ten years with the studio.
Reflecting on his tenure, Herran expressed gratitude for the relationships and projects developed during his time at WBSF, remaining optimistic about future prospects.
The San Francisco studio hosts Warner Bros. Games' Digital Publishing branch, and manages the production of mobile games, including titles like DC Worlds Collide, as well as MultiVersus, a project that ceased operations last May following poor performance.
In a related move earlier this year, Warner Bros. Games closed three other locations: Monolith Productions, Player First Games, and their San Diego studio.
The company explained these actions were part of a strategy to refocus on developing top-tier games aligned with key franchises.
This restructuring led to the discontinuation of Monolith's Wonder Woman game, described as a challenging choice made in line with their revised strategic objectives.
