Reports suggest that Glowmade has been impacted by layoffs

Approximately twelve employees at Glowmade are reportedly being laid off. Information from Insider Gaming indicates that the performance of their new game, King of Meat, significantly fell short of internal targets.
The Guildford-based company's management had aimed for an active player base of at least 100,000 on Steam; however, the game only managed to reach a peak of 320 players according to SteamDB, consistently falling below 1,000 players across all platforms.
This situation reportedly led the studio to initiate discussions on voluntary redundancies with its workforce earlier this month, impacting around twelve individuals.
GamesIndustry.biz has contacted both Glowmade and Amazon Game Studios for their input.
Established in 2015 by three ex-Lionhead Studios developers, Glowmade collaborated with Amazon Game Studios in 2021 to expand its reach into third-party publishing.
Amazon Games later released King of Meat in October 2025.
In an interview last August, GamesIndustry.biz spoke with Jon Rosenblatt, Amazon's EMEA publishing director, about the company's gaming strategy, which included King of Meat.
"Building diverse and incredible games is essential for us," stated Rosenblatt. "Working with Glowmade on King of Meat presented an excellent chance to develop something larger than initially envisioned."
