Splash Damage will undergo its second round of layoffs this year
The exact number of people who will leave the studio is currently unknown.
The management of Splash Damage announced on LinkedIn that they are currently holding consultations with employees at all levels. The results of these consultations will determine who keeps their job and who does not. The studio has pledged to "consider all options for retaining specialists."
It is stated that the layoffs will allow Splash Damage to better adapt to the situation in the gaming market and maintain flexibility.
This current round of layoffs will be the second for Splash Damage in 2025. The previous occurred in January shortly after the cancellation of the cooperative action game Transformers: Reactivate. At that time, the number of employees laid off was also not officially disclosed, but according to information from the Game Industry Layoffs portal, around 150 people might have been affected by the reductions.
Additionally, it is worth noting that two months ago, Splash Damage exited Tencent's ownership—private investors bought it out from the Chinese giant. It is likely that the new layoffs are related to restructuring processes following the separation.
