Mike Morhaime, the co-founder and chief executive of Dreamhaven, has revealed that the company is implementing layoffs. The announcement was made in a LinkedIn update, where Morhaime mentioned the decision was made to "reduce the impact on our publishing group."

While the exact number of employees impacted by the layoffs has not been disclosed, Morhaime acknowledged the significance of these measures, noting that they affect colleagues who have been instrumental in developing Dreamhaven's foundation. These individuals helped organize the Dreamhaven Showcase and contributed to launching three games.

Morhaime expressed appreciation for the efforts of those leaving, stating, "I'm deeply grateful for the creativity, dedication, and hard work of the teammates we are parting ways with." He added that the company understands the challenges faced by employees and has provided separation packages and benefits to ease their transition.

Dreamhaven has joined forces with Amir Satvat's Games Community to offer support in the form of career transition resources and mentorship to affected employees. Despite the current difficulties, Morhaime remains positive about the company's future prospects.

In correspondence with PC Gamer, it was clarified that the layoffs will not hinder the ongoing development of projects such as Wildgate and Sunderfolk.

The layoffs come in the wake of a Bloomberg article referencing an alleged internal email in which Morhaime indicated that the company's "monthly expenses are outpacing revenue."

Founded in 2020 by Morhaime after his stint as president and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment, Dreamhaven faces these challenges as part of its growth journey. Morhaime left his position at Blizzard in 2018.
