Schreier indicated that before the layoffs, the BioShock 4 developers' studio employed 250 people. Thus, their staff was reduced by a third.

Schreier's sources also revealed that Cloud Chamber has delayed the release of the new BioShock installment. It was initially planned for late 2026 or early 2027, but now it will take longer.

2K Games, the parent company of Cloud Chamber, confirmed changes in the studio but avoided specific figures.

“While we are very pleased with the core gameplay elements of the project, we have decided along with the leaders of Cloud Chamber to redesign some aspects of the BioShock core. Due to the need to focus on this task and the increased development time, part of the team was reduced,” stated 2K Games President David Ismailer.
