Bithell Games has revealed that most of its full-time employees have lost their jobs.

In a post on Bluesky, the studio head Mike Bithell stated that eleven positions were affected due to challenges in obtaining backing for a "new larger scale project".

Bithell explained, "As we approached the launch of our latest title [Tron: Catalyst], it became evident that the difficulties faced by many game developers in securing funding for 2024 and 2025 were unavoidable for us as well."

Bithell further mentioned that they managed to communicate these issues in advance and worked on providing severance packages to help support those leaving. He emphasized that the impacted team possessed exceptional talent.

According to Bithell, the layoffs won't interfere with the availability and continued support of their current self-published titles.

Rich Stubbs, a senior animator, was among those affected by the job cuts.

Stubbs expressed, "Unfortunately, like many in the industry now, I find myself redundant," in a LinkedIn post.

He added, "Working at Bithell Games has been an incredible journey. Serving as the sole animator on a Disney project is a significant accomplishment I will carry proudly."

Stubbs extended his appreciation and regard for the studio and colleagues he collaborated with over the years.

Established in 2013 after the success of Thomas Was Alone, Bithell Games is also recognized for Tron: Identity, John Wick: Hex, and The Banished Vault.
