The median annual salary at Microsoft is 408 times less than Satya Nadella's salary
Game File journalist Stephen Totilo examined data on Microsoft employee payouts for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024. He noted that CEO Satya Nadella earned hundreds of times more than others.

The salaries of both Nadella and other employees include bonuses and Microsoft stock options in addition to base salary. However, for Nadella, stocks comprise the majority of his compensation: if removed, his annual cash payouts would decrease to $7.86 million.
After Totilo's article was published, senior software developer at Wizards of the Coast Valentine Powell stated that all his developer acquaintances at Xbox studios earn less than $193,700 a year. According to him, that amount is what directors make, while regular employees typically earn between $40,000 and $160,000.
