1047 Games, the developer behind Splitgate 2, has announced a round of layoffs

Game development studio 1047 Games has revealed layoffs affecting an unspecified number of employees.
In a statement on LinkedIn, the company explained that it is reallocating resources to ensure the development of a top-notch game for its audience.
Co-founders Ian Proulx and Nicholas Bagamian have chosen not to receive salaries during the development phase of their new venture.
The company expressed its regret over the departures and mentioned efforts to assist those affected in finding new roles.
The message conveyed gratitude towards those who contributed to the project, noting that their efforts have been instrumental to its progress.
To the current players of Splitgate 2, the studio reassured its dedication to creating a rewarding gaming experience.
According to IGN, those who have been laid off have also shared updates on social networks.
Affected former employees include senior 3D environment artist Jean Luca Navarro Medeiros, associate producer Juliana Ozment, and senior level designer Blaze Lightcap.
1047 Games has brought Splitgate 2 to market, a free-to-play shooter that follows 2019's Splitgate.
Back in May 2021, the studio secured a $6.5 million investment led by Galaxy Interactive, which was followed by an additional $10 million in July of the same year.
