Layoffs have occurred at Bend Studio. It's possible that nearly a third of the staff was cut

The studio behind Days Gone announced on social media that it has parted ways with some employees. Bend Studio did not specify the number of layoffs, but according to information from Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, 40 people have left.

Schreier noted that as a result, Bend Studio's staff was reduced by 30%.

In a statement to the media, Sony — the parent company of the studio — explained the layoffs as "strategic changes." Bend Studio has taken on the development of a new game, and for long-term success, it had to restructure the team.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that Sony canceled two service games, one of which was being developed by Bend Studio. At the time, the company assured that it would minimize the consequences of this decision and would not close either Bend Studio or Bluepoint Games — the developers of the other canceled game. Two weeks later, the media noticed on LinkedIn that Bend Studio had terminated contracts with almost all freelance employees.
