The German company Wooga has laid off part of its staff, according to reports by PocketGamer and MobileGamer. They attribute the layoffs to the cancellation of the mobile card game Claire’s Chronicles: Solitaire.

The exact number of people who lost their jobs is not known. As reported by MobileGamer, at least 10 people were affected by the layoffs. According to PocketGamer’s sources, about 50 employees were dismissed.
In any case, social media posts from former Wooga employees indicate that the layoffs impacted multiple departments. The company parted ways with several artists, designers, producers, and analysts.
Wooga and its parent company Playtika declined to comment to the media on either the layoffs or the game’s cancellation.
Claire’s Chronicles: Solitaire was in soft launch since October 2024. According to data from the AppMagic service, it was available in the UK, Canada, India, and the Philippines, earning a net $53,400 from in-app purchases. In February 2025, Playtika announced plans to globally release the game within 12-18 months; however, it seems something led them to change their decision.
