Microsoft announced a new round of layoffs, affecting about 7,000 people

The layoffs will affect employees at all levels, teams, and locations.

The specific number of employees who will be leaving their positions was not disclosed. It was only stated that the company will reduce its workforce by 3%. In June of last year, it employed 228,000 people.

In a statement to CNBC, a Microsoft representative explained the situation as "the implementation of organizational changes necessary for the company to succeed in a rapidly changing market."

The layoffs are not related to performance metrics. One of their "objective aims" is to reduce the number of managers.
