Media: EA lays off hundreds of employees and cancels a game in the Titanfall universe
On the evening of April 29, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier reported on large-scale layoffs at Electronic Arts (EA). According to his information, the company has decided to cut between 300 and 400 employees.

As Schreier writes, a significant portion of the layoffs affected Respawn Entertainment, with around 100 developers being let go.
An EA representative confirmed the fact of the layoffs to Bloomberg but provided no significant details. He only noted that this measure is necessary to maintain the company's "long-term strategic priorities," allowing EA to better organize teams and distribute resources more efficiently.
In turn, Respawn Entertainment released an official statement on social media. It states that the studio has indeed laid off several employees. Additionally, it canceled two unannounced projects in their early production stages. The names of the games are not disclosed, but according to Schreier, one of them was an extraction shooter in the Titanfall universe under the code name R7.
Insider Jeff Grubb separately added that the layoffs at EA are largely related to last year's lackluster performance of two major franchises: EA Sports FC and Apex Legends. He indicated that against this backdrop, the weak results of Dragon Age: The Veilguard were almost painless for the company.
On May 6, EA is expected to release a report for the last fiscal year. The company may provide more details about the situation in its studios and the current layoffs.
