Meta* is conducting mass layoffs in its XR division. Over 100 people might lose their jobs

Meta Corporation* is reducing the staff of its Reality Labs division, which is focused on mixed reality technologies. The company stated that this is part of the department's restructuring to enhance its efficiency.

Specifically, the layoffs will affect certain teams within Oculus Studios. It is known that among those impacted are developers of the fitness game Supernatural.

Meta* did not disclose the number of employees being laid off, but Bloomberg has investigated. According to agency sources, the corporation has decided to part ways with over a hundred XR specialists in total.

The Reality Labs division has been losing money for many years. Last fall, CNBC journalists calculated that since its integration into the company in 2020, it has lost $54.36 billion. By the end of December, this amount had grown by another $4.97 billion. Whether the layoffs are an attempt to reduce losses is not reported.
