Eidos-Montréal lays off 75 employees
Eidos-Montréal is the third subsidiary of Embracer Group in the past month to announce mass layoffs. As part of the reduction round, 75 employees will leave the company.

In an official statement, Eidos-Montréal explained that this decision was made because one of its contracts had ended. The studio found itself unable to transfer the employees involved in the contract to other projects, which forced them to proceed with the layoffs.
Eidos-Montréal promises to provide the necessary support to all affected employees.
The specific project the Eidos-Montréal statement refers to is unknown. It was previously reported that the studio was assisting Playground Games with the development of the new Fable. Additionally, they are currently working on at least one other unnamed game.
The last major layoffs at Eidos-Montréal occurred at the beginning of 2024 during the restructuring of the Embracer Group when it parted ways with 97 employees. At that time, it was revealed by the media that the studio simultaneously canceled a new game in the Deus Ex franchise after two years of development, deciding instead to focus on creating an original IP.
The restructuring of Embracer Group was formally completed last spring. Nevertheless, the subsidiaries of the holding have recently begun reducing their staff again. Besides Eidos-Montréal, fresh layoffs have also been reported by Crystal Dynamics and PLAION.
