Supercell carried out layoffs at Space Ape and renamed the studio Supercell London
At the end of 2024, Supercell acquired the British studio Space Ape. Even then, the company warned that it intended to transform it from an independent team into one of its branches. Now, this has happened — Space Ape has officially become Supercell London.

Supercell told the portal MobileGamer that not all Space Ape employees became part of Supercell London. Some people had to be let go. According to the company, about 70 studio employees were incorporated into Supercell London.
Anonymous sources from MobileGamer reported that a total of 30 people left Space Ape. It is claimed that the layoff process was somewhat “chaotic,” but Supercell made every effort to retain as many people as possible. In particular, they offered them jobs at other offices.
Sources from the publication added that about 10 Space Ape employees working on the game Transformers: Earth Wars have already decided to join the Chinese company Yodo1. It is a longstanding partner of Space Ape and was the publisher of Transformers: Earth Wars in China.
It is also reported that another 10-12 people may join the newly established studio Offroad Games, founded by former Space Ape General Manager Geoffrey Gilles. As MobileGamer writes, this studio will also take ownership of two Space Ape games — Chrome Valley Customs and Fastlane.
It is known that among those who left Space Ape is its CEO and co-founder John Earner. He posted on LinkedIn that he plans to take a break from game development. What he will pursue next remains unsaid.
