Mighty Kingdom did not specify the exact number of people it intends to let go. The studio only stated that the layoffs would be "significant" and would include some executives.
The studio hopes that the restructuring will help reduce costs. At the end of December, it announced that it secured a loan of 1.2 million Australian dollars (745 thousand US dollars) to support the business until they receive the expected government subsidies of 2 million Australian dollars (1.24 million US dollars). Mighty Kingdom expects to receive the funds from the country's authorities shortly.
The current layoffs are the second round in Mighty Kingdom within the last 12 months. In May 2024, the studio cut 28% of its workforce.
Mighty Kingdom is one of the largest indie studios in Australia. Its portfolio includes games like Conan Chop Chop, Power Rangers Mighty Force, Ava’s Manor, Wild Life, and Star Trek Lower Decks: The Badgey Directive.
