The studio behind Dauntless has laid off the "majority" of its employees

Phoenix Labs has announced another wave of layoffs — the fourth since May 2023. This time, the company has decided to part ways with the majority of its staff.

Dauntless

As Phoenix Labs stated, the layoffs are an unpleasant but necessary step for the studio.

Phoenix Labs did not specify the exact number of employees laid off, only mentioning "the majority." According to insider Tom Henderson, over 50 people are affected by the cuts, and Phoenix Labs itself is reportedly on the brink of closure.

It remains unknown what will happen next with the games Fae Farm and Dauntless. The studio promised to provide more details about their future in the coming weeks. Henderson's sources do not rule out the possibility that Phoenix Labs might discontinue support for at least Dauntless, which currently has a "very negative" rating on Steam.
