Following the cancellation of a game, Sharkmob's London branch is experiencing layoffs
Sharkmob's studio in London is undergoing staff reductions after deciding to halt the development of a game, affecting an unspecified number of employees.
This information was confirmed through a statement to GamesIndustry.biz, with the London branch now undergoing a consultation period to evaluate necessary workforce cuts.
The company aims to "minimize this impact" according to the statement shared.
"The gaming sector is confronting hurdles, causing us to realign our efforts towards the most suitable business opportunities," the statement mentioned. "Our London team was dedicated to an unrevealed project for an extended period, and we regret to announce its cancellation.
"Unfortunately, this decision impacts the number of employees we can sustain in our London office. This challenging situation compels us to focus on offering support and guidance to those potentially affected."
Conversely, Exoborne, a project in progress at Sharkmob's Malmö location, continues undisturbed by the situation in London, with the company affirming its commitment to this open-world extraction shooter's development.
