All employees at Annapurna Interactive have resigned
All 25 employees of indie game publisher Annapurna Interactive have resigned voluntarily, reports Bloomberg. They left following unsuccessful negotiations with the management of the parent company.
According to Bloomberg, the Annapurna Interactive team wanted to break away from under the umbrella of Annapurna Pictures to become an independent company. They sought permission from Annapurna Pictures founder Megan Ellison, but an agreement could not be reached. When Ellison refused further negotiations, Annapurna Interactive President Nathan Gary, along with other executives, resigned, soon followed by the rest of the staff.
The departure of Annapurna Interactive's employees came as unpleasant news for the publisher's partners. However, the parent company assured developers that their projects would remain unaffected.
It is reported that Hector Sanchez, a co-founder, has recently returned to Annapurna Interactive, now assuming the role of president of the publisher. According to Bloomberg sources, he is already looking for new team members to replace those who left.
Annapurna Interactive was founded in 2016 and has since released numerous indie hits, including titles such as Stray, Outer Wilds, Cocoon, and Neon White. The company is currently preparing to publish Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth, Silent Hill: Townfall, Mixtape, Ghost Bike, Bounty Star, Wanderstop, and other games.
