According to reporting by PC Gamer, the team's reduction comes in response to several unforeseen hurdles faced in recent months.

Despite these challenges, the development of their anticipated game, Deadrop, which aims for a 2025 release, is still progressing.

The company's spokesperson stated that the decision to downsize was made to adapt to these conditions and to ensure the ongoing development of Midnight Society and Deadrop, alongside their dedication to providing groundbreaking gaming experiences.

The studio expressed gratitude to the affected employees for their contributions, ensured their support, and wished them success in future endeavors. These strategic actions are intended to lay a stronger foundation and refocus on the organization's core goals.

Earlier in June, the studio decided to end its association with co-founder and popular streamer Guy "Dr Disrespect" Beahm. This decision followed their discovery of issues tied to Beahm’s 2020 ban from Twitch.

Beahm later admitted that the ban was related to him sending a message to a minor in 2017.

The company explained that Beahm's continued participation was untenable to maintain its ethical standards, and thus, they terminated their professional relationship with him.
