The Polish studio Ancient Forge has laid off nearly half of its staff

The studio Ancient Forge, known for the games The Tenants and the upcoming Hotel Galactic, has laid off 24 out of 59 employees. This was reported by the CD-Action portal.

According to CD-Action, the studio had been experiencing significant growth over the past year, doubling its workforce and embarking on the development of several new games. In July, news surfaced that Ancient Forge was facing financial difficulties. It was reported then that the studio was preparing to switch employees to a reduced work schedule to save costs, but apparently, these measures were insufficient.

Leaders at Ancient Forge confirmed the layoffs to CD-Action. They announced disbanding the teams working on two games: the builder simulator The Constructors and an unannounced AA-level fantasy RPG. The decision was made due to increasing costs in developing both games, as well as unsatisfactory work progress and quality output. According to management, this move will allow Ancient Forge to focus on more promising projects and maintain a stable financial position.

Currently, Ancient Forge's priority is the continued support for the film studio simulator Blockbuster Inc., released in June, and the development of the space hotel simulator Hotel Galactic. The studio noted that Hotel Galactic could become the new flagship title for Ancient Forge — the game currently boasts 80,000 wishlists on Steam. It is still unknown when Hotel Galactic will be released.
