The median salary of a mid-level manager in the Russian-speaking gaming industry is $3,200

We continue to publish the results of our salary survey by chapters, which was conducted from April to May 2023. This publication focuses on the income level of mid-level Russian-speaking gaming managers (by which we mean employees in positions such as Project Manager, Product Manager, and Producer).

We remind you that we are currently conducting a new salary survey. Through it, we collect up-to-date data on the salary situation among Russian-speaking and Russian professionals. You can participate here:

$3,511 is the average salary for mid-level managers in the Russian-speaking gaming industry. The median is $3,200.

There are two predominant salary groups among mid-level managers – those who earn between $2,000 and $2,500, and those who earn between $4,000 and $4,500. The dominance of these two distinct groups is partly explained by the fact that our responses are predominantly from project managers and producers. The former generally earn less than the latter.

The proportion of those earning less than $1,000 among mid-level managers is small — 7.5%. About the same percentage applies to those earning more than $7,000 per month.

36.7% of mid-level managers remain in Russia. Meanwhile, more than 20% of Russian-speaking 'projects', 'products', and producers now reside in Cyprus and Serbia combined. However, the salary rate for managers in Serbia is closer to the Russian rate than the Cypriot rate.

Project managers have the lowest salaries in this segment. Product managers have the highest.

Despite generally high salaries within the profession, entry-level salaries for mid-level managers are on par with (if not lower than) those of artists and game designers. However, transitioning to the Middle level can lead to a twofold salary increase.

Methodology

The study is the result of the third salary survey of Russian-speaking representatives of the gaming industry. The survey was conducted by WN Media Group from April to May 2023. It was carried out through voluntary questionnaires (users independently filled out a freely distributed questionnaire with questions).

A total of 1,004 completed questionnaires were received during the survey. Of these, 95 were from mid-level managers.
