- Tilting Point will lay off up to 90 of its 450 employees, the company told Mobilegamer.biz. According to CEO Kevin Segalla, this was a forced step made due to the current state of the global games market.
- “We have done everything we can to maintain the shape of the business as long as possible, however we have come to a point where we have had to make some difficult decisions in order to continue operating a healthy ongoing company,” he said in a statement.
- Segalla noted that Tilting Point will help the affected employees find new positions outside the company.
- In January 2023, the publisher announced a restructuring and laid off over 60 people across various business units, including its Web3 division, product management teams, and Star Trek Timelines developer Wicked Realms Games.
Founded in 2012 by Segalla and Dan Sherman (who left in 2018), Tilting Point is best known for making and publishing free-to-play mobile games. According to AppMagic, the company has generated over $285 million in net revenue from in-app purchases across its vast portfolio.
Its highest-grossing games include Star Trek Timelines, Narcos: Cartel Wars & Strategy, Hidden Hotel: Miami Mystery, SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off, Astrokings, Warhammer: Chaos & Conquest, and others.
One of the core pillars of Tilting Point’s strategy has been acquisitions. The company has purchased teams like Budge Studios and AN Games, as well as brought a number of third-party mobile titles under its umbrella.
