Jam City, a company known for mobile games, has undergone workforce reductions.

According to Polygon's Nicole Carpenter, the company confirmed last Friday (August 2) that 10% of its employees were let go, impacting approximately 85 individuals.

Jam City's CEO Josh Yguado sent an email to staff explaining that the decision was influenced by the prevailing market conditions.

"Following a tough 2023, market experts had forecast a positive shift for the gaming sector in 2024," Yguado mentioned. "Nevertheless, despite some gradual progress in certain areas, the anticipated overall growth has not materialized."

Carpenter noted that some of the company's major games, such as DC Heroes & Villains, Jurassic World Alive, and Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, experienced "lower-than-expected performance."

Previously, in August 2022, Jam City reduced its workforce by 17%, affecting between 150 and 200 employees, predominantly within its subsidiary, Ludia.

In September 2021, Jam City acquired Ludia for $165 million.
