The head of FromSoftware has assured that there will be no layoffs at his studio

Since the beginning of the year, gaming companies have laid off more than 10,000 employees. FromSoftware is one of the studios that avoided layoffs. In an interview with PC Gamer, its president Hidetaka Miyazaki revealed that he would never wish for his subordinates to face mass layoffs.

Miyazaki admitted that he cannot say with 100% certainty what the future holds for FromSoftware. However, as long as he leads the studio, he will not allow layoffs. Additionally, the game designer noted that his stance on layoffs is shared by Kadokawa, the parent company of FromSoftware.

Miyazaki quoted former Nintendo president Satoru Iwata: "People who are afraid of losing their jobs can't make games that impress people around the world." Iwata expressed these words in 2013 when Nintendo faced losses but still chose not to lay off employees. At that time, Iwata reduced his own salary by 50%.
