A studio founded by former Riot Games employees has released the source code for Friendshipper, a tool for game testing
The indie studio Believer Entertainment has decided to share its tool, Friendshipper, with other developers. It has released the project's source code as open source.
Friendshipper is available on GitHub as part of a larger repository called Ethos.
The tool allows for rapid code changes, build assembly, and sharing of updates with team members, ensuring synchronized work on the game. As Believer Entertainment explains, Friendshipper enables testers to conduct playtests from afar while working remotely.
Believer Entertainment stated that they released the Friendshipper source code online to save other studios from unnecessary work. They noted that the game industry often reinvents the wheel. Frequently, new studios expend effort creating their own game testing tools, despite many such solutions already existing.
