A studio formed by former Riot Games employees has released the source code for Friendshipper, a tool for game testing
The indie studio Believer Entertainment has decided to share its tool called Friendshipper with other developers. They have released the project's source code to the public.
Friendshipper is available on GitHub as part of a larger repository called Ethos.
The tool allows for very quick changes to code, building builds, and sending changes to other team members. This enables synchronized work on the game. As explained by Believer Entertainment, with the help of Friendshipper, testers can conduct playtests while being far apart and working remotely.
Believer Entertainment stated that they posted Friendshipper's source code online to save other studios from unnecessary work. They noted that in the gaming industry, there is a constant reinvention of the wheel. Very often, new studios expend effort creating their own game testing tools, even though many such solutions already exist.
