The developer of Tap Away and Pull the Pin conducted layoffs

Hyper-casual developer and publisher Popcore Games has fired some employees, according to the PocketGamer portal. Among those fired are team leaders.

In particular, Global HR Director Kyle W., creative producer Nikolina Sekulic and lead tester James Mitchell lost their jobs.

Judging by the publications of former Popcore Games employees on LinkedIn, developers, artists, ASO managers and UA specialists fell under the cuts. It is not reported how many people left the company in total.

The current round of layoffs was the second for the company in the last year. The last time Popcore Games conducted layoffs was at the end of July 2023. At that time, the number of those laid off was also not disclosed, but the company said that the cuts took place as part of a "small" restructuring.

Popcore Games is one of the subsidiaries of Take-Two Interactive. Since 2022, she has been part of the family through Rollic Games, which, in turn, is the "daughter" of Zynga.

Perhaps the layoffs at Popcore Games are part of Take-Two Interactive's cost-cutting program. However, last week, the head of Take-Two Interactive, Strauss Zelnick, reported that his company does not plan to reduce staff, despite the desire to save money. It is possible that Popcore Games itself decided to part with some of the employees.
