In the studio of the authors of AdVenture Capitalist, more than a quarter of the staff was cut
The Canadian studio Hyper Hippo also took up the cuts. She fired 27% of the staff — that's 13 people.
In particular, creative director Nicholas Sherrill, senior producer Thomas Leroux-Hugon and senior game designer Ted Yan lost their jobs.
Hyper Hippo reported that the layoffs took place as part of a restructuring. "Such difficult decisions are necessary so that in a rapidly changing industry, the company can remain competitive, innovative and flexible," said Sam Fisher, CEO of Hyper Hippo, in a comment to PocketGamer.
Hyper Hippo was founded in 2012 by veterans of Disney Online Studios. The studio specializes in idle games and is known primarily for the titles AdVenture Capitalist and Dungeon Dwarves. To date, her games have been downloaded 80 million times.
