Roblox offered employees a choice between working in the office and quitting
Roblox management wants employees to return to the office. The company's CEO, David Baszucki, announced that starting next year they will have to come to the office at least three times a week — from Tuesday to Thursday. Those who do not agree will have to look for another job.
A decision must be made by January 16, 2024. Basuki promised that Roblox would help employees move to San Mateo, where the company's headquarters are located. Employees who refuse to work in the office will be able to stay in the company until April 15, 2024. After they are fired, they will be paid severance pay.
However, some people will be able to continue working from home. These include employees whose position assumes a remote work format: moderators, employees of call centers and data centers. Also, "persons with niche skills or significant institutional knowledge" are not allowed to come to the office. For example, employees with deep experience working with Roblox systems.
As Basuki explained, returning employees to the office will increase their productivity and speed up the resolution of work issues.
Recall that Roblox began to abandon the "remote" in May 2022, but then it offered more lenient conditions.
