The studio of the authors of Baldur's Gate reissues suffered from layoffs at Embracer Group
Layoffs in gaming companies continue. This time it became known about the cuts in the Beamdog studio, which released reissues of classic RPGs like Planescape: Torment and two parts of Baldur’s Gate.
Former employees told about mass layoffs in Beamdog in social networks (Timur222 enthusiast drew attention to the posts). The studio was affected by the restructuring in its parent company Embracer Group. Recall that the latter is cutting costs after the failure of the $ 2 billion deal in May.
It is reported that 25 people were fired from Beamdog. This figure was named by Amir Satvat, Business development director of Tencent’s gaming division, who tracks the situation with layoffs in the gaming industry.
According to LinkedIn Beamdog, 69 people work in the studio at the time of writing the news.
