Ascendant Studios laid off 45% of its employees. Perhaps because of the poor sales of Immortals of Aveum

Ascendant Studios, which developed the magical shooter Immortals of Aveum, conducted large-scale cuts. She fired almost half of the employees.

The Polygon portal was the first to report the incident, which indicated that 80-100 people worked in the studio before the cuts. Later, Ascendant Studios CEO Bret Robbins confirmed the layoffs. He wrote on X (Twitter) that the studio had to part with 45% of the staff.

Robbins stated that Ascendant Studios was forced to cut staff after the release of Immortals of Aveum. In an interview with Polygon, one of the former employees clarified that the reason was poor sales of the game.

Immortals of Aveum was released on August 22 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. Her score on Metacritic ranges from 65 to 75 points, depending on the platform, and the user rating on Steam is 72% based on a total of 461 reviews. As for the peak online on Steam, it is also low — 751 people.
