Blackbird Interactive laid off dozens of employees

In Blackbird Interactive, large-scale layoffs took place: more than 40 people were fired from the studio. The incident is reported by employees who are out of work.

It is known that among those fired were the leading game designer of Homeworld 3 and Hardspace: Shipbreaker Sean Storey, senior programmer Joseph Hurst and technical artist James Marshall.

According to information on the Blackbird Interactive website, there were 300 people in the studio before the layoffs. Note that the studio has been working on the Homeworld 3 space strategy for the past few years, the release of which has been postponed several times. Now it is expected that the game will be released in February 2024.
