Activision Blizzard has entered into a settlement agreement with the US Department of Justice. The company was accused of limiting the salaries of esports players

Activision Blizzard settled the conflict with the US Department of Justice, which was dissatisfied with the “salary ceiling” for esports players from the Overwatch and Call of Duty leagues.

According to Bloomberg, Activision Blizzard signed a settlement agreement on April 3. She did this right after the ministry filed a lawsuit against the company. Now the parties need to wait for the approval of the court.

The US Department of Justice launched an investigation against Activision Blizzard two years ago. It drew attention to the fact that the publisher introduced the so-called “competitive advantage tax”. According to the rules of Activision Blizzard, esports organizations could spend no more than a certain amount on salaries for esports players, for every dollar over this amount, the publisher fined organizations one dollar. Activision Blizzard temporarily abolished the tax in 2021.
