The creator of The Witness stated that there is "no design" in the Elden Ring
The other day, a discussion broke out on Twitter about not the best quality of modern AAA games. Some of the participants were not against making an exception for the Elden Ring, calling its design “passable”, but not Jonathan Blow. According to the creator of The Witness, there is no design as such in this game.
Blow stated that FromSoftware made just a huge map “with a lot of bosses with different attack schemes.” Although the scale of the Elden Ring is impressive, there is nothing else in the game besides it. Blow also pointed out that the boss battles in Elden Ring are far from original. According to the developer, gamers have seen similar fights more than once in other games.
Blow stressed that what he said was not a criticism of FromSoftware. He noted that the studio has done a good job, “but what is, is.”
