NetEase opens its first studio in the USA. It will be headed by the game designer of Star Trek Online and City of Heroes

The Chinese tech giant NetEase has a studio in Austin, Texas — Jackalope Games. According to the company, industry veteran Jack Emmert, who previously headed Cryptic Studios and Daybreak Game Company, will lead the American division.

Jackalope Games will maintain creative autonomy from NetEase when developing and publishing “exciting games for PC and consoles”.

NetEase has promised that it will fully finance the studio’s debut game. What kind of project it will be is still unknown. Given Emmert’s experience, it can be assumed that Jackalope Games will be engaged in MMORPG.
