A new mobile game from Tencent has become the leader in downloads in China. It combines the mechanics of Pokémon GO and Cryptokitties
The geolocation game Let’s Hunt Monsters has been released in China, combining the mechanics of Pokémon GO and Cryptokitties. It has already become the most downloaded freeplay game in the Chinese iOS store, overtaking PUBG and Honor of Kings.
Let’s Hunt Monsters
The essence of the novelty is in the search and capture of virtual creatures in real terrain by analogy with Pokémon GO.
The creatures in Let’s Hunt Monsters are characters from Chinese mythology. They can be developed and used in battles, writes PocketGamer.
Also in Let’s Hunt Monsters, you can breed crypto kittens to exchange them with other users and sell them for cryptocurrency — just like in Cryptokitties. All actions with cryptocurrencies in Let’s Hunt Monsters are recorded on Tencent and Huawei’s own blockchain platform – BCOS. However, unlike Cryptokitties, in the new Tencent game, the earned crypt cannot be exchanged for real money.
Let’s Hunt Monsters
Cryptokitties itself is not available in China due to the ban on the exchange of cryptocurrencies.
It is also impossible to play Pokémon GO in the country, as it requires access to banned Google Maps. In China, publishers have tried to launch their counterparts. The game from Tencent became the first truly popular.
Let’s add that Let’s Hunt Monsters spent almost a year in softlonch. Tencent managed to get permission to release it before last year’s suspension of licensing. The title was released on April 11 of this year.
